Victorian floor tile clean, repair, restore in Scotland
BLOG
Over the last few months we have completed a range of Victorian tile cleaning, repair and restoration projects throughout Scotland, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, East Lothian, Fife, Perth, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen and the Scottish Borders. Every floor has presented its own challenges, so our approach has always been guided by its condition, using sympathetic conservation methods and retaining as much original material as possible.
The projects below include the cleaning and restoration of Victorian geometric and encaustic tiled floors, replacement of missing and damaged tiles, regrouting, stabilising loose floors, removing old sealants and inappropriate coatings, and carefully matching replacement tiles where needed. Our work has taken us to private homes, churches, listed buildings and other historic properties across Scotland.
Whether restoring a Victorian hallway in Edinburgh, repairing a geometric tiled floor in Glasgow, or conserving historic tiles elsewhere in Scotland, our aim is always to preserve the character of the original floor while carrying out lasting, sympathetic repairs.
