Clean, Repair, Restore Victorian Tiles Highlands, Scotland
BLOG
We recently completed the cleaning, repair and restoration of a rare Victorian geometric tile floor in Nairn, Scottish Highlands. The floor featured an unusual design with delicate encaustic tiles containing thin inlaid coloured clay, so every stage of the work was carried out with great care. We expertly and gently cleaned the tiles using conservation-led methods to preserve the fragile inlaid decoration while improving the overall appearance of the floor.
Owing to the rarity of the floor and the requirements of an exclusive private client, a non-disclosure agreement was signed before work commenced. This meant the project had to be approached with complete discretion as well as the highest standards of workmanship and conservation.
Our work also included specialist tile cleaning, repairing damaged areas, replacing missing Victorian tiles with carefully matched originals and applying a breathable protective finish suitable for historic tiled floors. Every stage of the project was undertaken using sympathetic conservation techniques to retain as much original historic fabric as possible.
If you are looking for Victorian tile restoration in Nairn or the Scottish Highlands, including Inverness, Forres, Aviemore, Dingwall and surrounding areas, we provide specialist cleaning, repair and conservation of historic Victorian and Edwardian tiled floors throughout the Highlands and across Scotland.
