Clean and Repair of Victorian Tiles, Perth – Scotland
BLOG
A new tile threshold was instated on this lovely Victorian Tile floor in Perth, Scotland.
The screed was repaired and new tiles colour matched to the original.
The floor was then clean, re-grouted and a sympathetic finish sealant was applied to nourish the tiles leaving it refreshed and rejuvenated.
The thresholds of Victorian floor tile schemes are often the area which is directly impacted by footfall as people walk in to a building. We often see structural failure of the Victorian tile wooden subfloor, cement, natural cement or lime screed and detaching of the tiles.
In this case the tiles were lifted and the grout and adhesive coats removed mechanically.
New wooden boards laid down, in this case marine ply then cement board. A new screed poured and left to cure. The original Victorian tiles were then laid to match the original design.
