Replace of tiles on Victorian tile floors

Replace of tiles on Victorian tile floors

Victorian tile floors can often have cracked and damaged tiles. These can often become loose and the surrounding tiles loose integrity with amazing speed.

Victorian tile geometric patterns rely on all tiles being structurally sound.

When necessary to change and replace tiles the considerations in specifying are

  • Can the damaged and defective tiles be removed without loss of stability of the floor?
  • Can replacement tiles be sourced that match the original?

We’ve had quite a few projects over the past few months involving replacement tiles on Victorian floor tile schemes, and we often have tiles made by specialist tile manufacture’s such as Craven Dunnill Jackfield Ltd.

We also keep a massive stock of tiles in our studio so generally speaking we can match to the original.

Our specialist craftspeople are very adept at removing damaged Victorian tiles without comprising the integrity of the while tile scheme with minimal dust and disruption and can re-fix replacement tiles in modern tile adhesives, OPC, natural cements and lime mortars.
